Let me start out by saying that I believe that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I’ve been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from going through a program. My family was not aware of the Counter-dependency available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the right choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.
Finding the cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, when the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like numerous addicts I began out smoking pot and progressed from that point until I used to be doing my drug of choice daily at the fee for everything and everybody around me. I lost valuable time with my oldest daughter and many years of a meaningful relationship with my family. During your addiction you don’t have friends, you might have your partying buddies and when a crisis comes up in your own life they may be no where that can be found. Real friends walk along with you through it all. My addiction included alcohol as well as drugs and that i drank almost everyday. From the moment I made the selection to stop the addiction cycle within my life, it became a stride at a time and it also was hard.
When I began coming from my addictive lifestyle a few things i seen in its wake was plenty of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships without any real idea a few things i would do with the remainder of my entire life. I truly began a stride at the same time and one day at a time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and through that grieving process is when I chose to permit God directly into help me. It took several years but healing came, direction for my life came and my marriage flourished. I completed High School, graduated from College and possess started my very own business, which now incorporates a business that allows me to work at home via a blogging platform.
Addiction Recovery Is Achievable. Once the real cause of any addiction is identified and worked through after that your primary reason to your addiction is not a factor. For a lot of who remain addicts throughout their lives it is because they have not identified their root cause, usually are not prepared to go through their issues and enable healing to happen. Many want to remain a victim with their circumstance, not realizing what the future would hold for them should they would let go of their victim mentality. Creating a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it is actually through that relationship that true healing took place.
My desire for drugs and alcohol is entirely gone. Through building a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and that i discovered feelings of purpose for my life. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to become a better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has developed into a company owner). My way to recovery could have taken a much different route if we had known about the programs available to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not just to the addicts but to there families too.
Addiction Recovery and Programs. Although I ultimately gained freedom from my addictions a software program for addiction recovery would have been a fantastic benefit to me. Programs offer support systems, counseling, aide in identifying your triggers. Programs offer tools that you can use throughout your life for many situations that you will face. Programs also offer you the ability to get out of your familiar surroundings which aides inside your process of healing. After several years of addiction recovery I began vxktfb for Teen Challenge which is a faith-based addiction recovery program:.
First being a Development Director and after that as a Program Director. While this is an excellent program there was some additional steps that I desired to offer those seeking help, so my partner and I opened our own recovery program and for a long time we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived along with us for around a year and we dealt with them step-by-step, it was just about the most rewarding experience I actually have ever had inside my life.
We closed this system because we knew it was time to move in a different direction with the lives, but we have been always contacting those searching for help themselves or a relative looking for help for one that they love. I am getting ready to start performing some volunteer employ a program within our area. Attempting to help addicts overcome their addiction is quite rewarding work which is something which I will be a part of for the remainder of my entire life in one way or another. If you or someone within your loved ones are experiencing addiction, research recovery programs and you may find the correct fit for you personally. Allow yourselves to heal, allow yourself addiction recovery as well as lead a fulfilling life.
